X Games Moto X SuperMoto Results

Saturday, August 01, 2009
Ivan Lazzarini grabbed the holeshot and retained the lead to win the X Games Moto X SuperMoto Finals on Saturday.

Before the start of Sundays race for S1 in Italy.
Honda FIM Supermoto rider Ivan Lazzarini fended off Mark Burkhart to take the X Games Moto X SuperMoto win.
At the end of Lap 1 Jeff Ward was running in a close second-place behind Lazzarini, followed by Sylvain Bidart a few bike lengths back in third. Adrien Chareyre then overtook Bidart and moved up to challenge Ward for second on Lap 8.

Under pressure Ward made a mistake and dropped to fourth. Carey Hart was also having troubles, pulling into the pits after running dead last at the halfway point.

Meanwile, Mark Burkhart had overtook Ward and Bidart and the overcame Chareyre to maneuver into second. With 12 laps down Burkhart closed to within three-tenths of Lazzarini. Four laps to go and the front-two had left Chareyre four seconds back in a distant third.

The hard charging Burkhart then took the lead on the penultimate lap, but Lazzarini immediately retaliated and reclaimed the position. From there the Italian rode out the final lap for the win.
