Blake Lilly was the big winner in the Open Class overall, taking the top-step with a 3-2 finish.
Anthony Defazio dominated the FMF 2-Stroke Challenge, winning both motos and bragging rights at his home track.
Sunday’s 2012 AMA Western Pro-Am action saw the open class take to the track, with two dramatic motos and double points awarded to the overall winners. At the end of the day it was Blake Lilly that earned the top-step in the open class, going 3-2. Mitch Van De Mortel earned second overall after he pulled a win in Moto 2. Conner Elliott rounded out the overall podium with his 5-3 performance.
In Open Moto 1 Elliott grabbed the holeshot, but was unable to fend off the hard-charging Cole Martinez. Martinez made it to the front early on and built a gap on the field to take the moto win. Colton Aeck finished the first moto in second and Lilly earned third. Joey Olson finished fourth while Elliott held to fifth.
In Moto 2 Elliott got ahead early once again, but this time Martinez was even closer than in Moto 1 and he quickly gained the advantage. The Kawasaki
rider managed to hold steady out front and appeared to be on his way to a 1-1 finish, but then a rear sprocket issue made his rear-end inoperable and he was forced to exit the race. De Mortel was able to hold the front to the checkers in Moto 2, followed by Lilly and Elliott in second and third respectively.
The FMF 2-Stroke Challenge also wrapped up on Sunday, and though there wasn’t anything but bragging rights on the line, the action was heated. Anthony Defazio came out on top once again, taking his KTM
to the front early and building a gap on the field. Cody Nobles grabbed second in the Moto and overall with his 2-2 finish while Austin Myers held to third.
