The American Motorcyclist Association congratulates and thanks the racers, friends, families and fans who supported The Mammoth Motocross, an AMA-sanctioned amateur motocross event. The Mammoth Motocross in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., wrapped up its 45th year on June 30 with the 450-class final, won by Wildomar, Calif.'s Weston Peick on a Suzuki.

"The AMA is honored for the opportunity to work with the promoters of one of America's longest-running amateur motocross programs, The Mammoth Motocross," said AMA Vice President of Operations Jeff Massey. "AMA members are the most dedicated racers in the country, and we appreciate the hard work of promoters like 2xPromotions.com and tracks like The Mammoth Motocross that offer opportunities to compete in such outstanding venues."

Myron Short from 2xPromotions said that 2013 was one of most successful years in the event's long history.

"With nearly 3,500 riders, the motocross community demonstrated that Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross is one of the region's premier events," Short said. "We appreciate everyone's participation and support."

Added Mammoth Motocross Race Director Mike Colbert: "We're excited to be a part of the AMA-sanctioned family and to support the country's leading advocate for the right to ride and race. This was another amazing year of motocross racing in Mammoth Lakes, and thanks to the organization and competitive balance provided by the AMA Amateur Competition Rulebook -- enhanced by what makes motocross racing at Mammoth unique -- I'm pleased to report that it was one of the best years yet."

The Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross finale played out over June 21-30. It featured three distinct schedules tailored to Vet riders, mini riders and displacement classes for full-sized bikes. The finale took place at one of the country's most scenic motocross tracks, located in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

The finale was preceded by the six-race "Road to Mammoth" qualifier series, which included races in Hesperia, Calif.; Porterville, Calif.; Turlock, Calif.; Riverside, Calif.; Reno, Nev.; and Perris, Calif. Racers' four best finishes in the qualifiers earned points toward the AMA King of the West title.
