Dean Wilson of San Jacinto, California took a near wire-to-wire win in Moto 1 of the fast
450 A/Pro Sport Class at the Amateur Motocross Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The MotorcycleUSA-Superstore holeshot award went to Derek Hall, but dropped out of the race after a wreck. Wilson assumed the lead. Clocking laps approximately two seconds faster than the rest of the pack Wilson took a dominate lead early on and continued to expand it throughout the race.
Ohio Native Shawn Rife held second for the first five laps of the race before relinquishing the position to Travis Baker of Temecula, California. Baker was one of three riders who stampeded into top-five spots after starting from the middle of the pack. Baker overcame nine riders to take second ahead of Rife. Georgia’s Sean Lipanovich made a notable advance from 10th to fourth, while Texan Randy Dibartolo rounded off the top five with a climb from 13th.
