2009 Glen Helen 24 Hour Results

Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Teams at the HYR 24-Hour Endurance race at Glen Helen last weekend competed for their share of a $5000 pro purse with the JCR Honda squad of Colton Udall, Nick Brozovich, Ryan Dudek and Benny Breck turning 69 laps on their JCR Honda CRF450X. Over 65 teams (five in the pro division) started at 10 a.m. on Saturday and hammered a 10-mile course which included the neighboring San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Emergency Vehicle Operations Center until the checkered flag fell at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Competing in his third 24-Hour Endurance race is JCR Honda's Colton Udall.

"This race win was a long time coming,” said Udall. “This was my third year racing the 24 Hours of Glen Helen in the pro class and first year with the JCR Honda team. It was a team effort and I can't thank my teammates enough. The JCR Honda pit crews are incredible. I’m mostly thankful to Honda for the best bike and Johnny Campbell who is the best team owner ever."

Robby Bell of Sun City, CA led the Northland Motorsports Kawasaki team to second place with defending champion Ty Davis and the Zip-Ty Husqvarna team hot on their heels. Davis and his three compatriots chased down the KX450F on the Husky WR300 2-stroke.

"The bike was flawless... we didn't even change the oil,” he said. “Besides being bulletproof, the WR300 was easier on the riders and tires; both critical factors in a race as tough and as long at the grueling 24 Hour event. We did three complete tire changes, but honestly could have easily completed the race with two. The WR300 is much lighter, easier to corner and handles better than the heavier 4-strokes we raced against - It's also a lot of fun to ride and it makes excellent power!"

Zip-Ty Husqvarna's team captain Ty Davis, is the defending 24-Hour champ and the winningest racer in the history of this event.

As the top 2-stroke, Davis and crew overcame losing their front brake and running out of fuel to beat the other two pro entries led by Ricky Brabec and Gordon Ward, respectively.
