The young Australasian Supercross Championship series enjoyed roughly 9000 fans in attendance to witness a feat that is even more rare in Australia than it is in the US –
Chad Reed suffered defeat. Dan Reardon put his Woodstock
Honda Thor
CRF450R to good use inside Burswood Dome and held off Monster Energy Kawasaki’s defending champion by a scant 0.6-second margin in the 10-lap main event.

Daniel Reardon has done what so many other riders hope to do; finish ahead of Chad Reed.
“I am so pumped about the win and it was a lot of fun racing tonight,” said Reardon. “It was a great track and a great venue and I felt really good on the bike.”
In a series which changes format weekly, Perth featured the first Round Robin for the Open class. Qualification consisted of three rounds, each using three heats for a total of nine races. Riders were mixed and matched to keep the competition fresh and each competed once in each round. The combined points were used to select the top-12 for the main event.
Reardon launched out to the lead and never relinquished that position, though he came awfully close. Michael Byrne crashed out in the whoops on his Rockstar Maxima Honda which left Reed alone to focus on Reardon and Jay Marmont to find the podium on his Yamaha. Reardon managed to displace Reed from the championship leaderboard as well with a two-point advantage until the next round in Canberra on Nov. 7.
The racing wasn’t quite as close in the 250 class where Matt Moss rode his championship-defending RM-Z250 to another victory. Kyle Cunningham visited from the States and landed in third on a Yamaha behind Suzuki-mounted Lawson Bopping.

Podium finishers for Round 3 at Perth include defending champ Chad Reed, title contender Daniel Reardon and Jay Marmont.
