At $7199 the 2005 Honda CRF450X will cost you a bit more than the WR.
The 2005 Honda CRF450X features a Uni-Cam 4-valve 449cc motor that is right on-par with the WR mill.
This emissions gizmo would be the first thing to ditch if you pick up a 2005 Honda CRF450X.

At $6599 the WR450F is a real bargain for the off-road consumer.
The 2005 WR450F features a 449cc, 5-valve, DOHC, four-stroke motor with titanium valves. It pulls hard considering it is tuned for off-road use.
Shorter front brake hose routing is said to help improve feel at the lever and eases brake maintenance while a new front wheel collar makes front wheel removal more simple on the 2005 WR 450F.
The WR cockpit is improved for '05. It has Renthal bars now, and it is slimmer and although it still feels tall its 10mm lower than last year's.
The 2005 Honda CRF450X cockpit is slim and user-friendly. It features Renthal bars a not-too hard seat and its pretty slim too.
Riding the CRF450X is actually pretty easy. It does what you want and it offers a healthy dose of low-end grunt.
