Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen Review

Tuesday, January 1, 2013
Dirt Digits made a custom set of backgrounds for our CBR600RR project bike. Now that it has the template you too can order a set for your Honda.
Zero Gravity’s Double Bubble Windscreen proves to be a simple and affordable way to improve the look and aerodynamics of your sportbike.
The ability to see the road ahead is important when you’re riding or racing a motorcycle. Zero Gravity helps improve vision while also increasing rider comfort with its Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen. The windshield is a direct OE-style replacement available for many sportbikes, including our 2012 Honda CBR600RR project racer.

Available in three different tints (Clear, Smoke and Dark Smoke), the windscreen comes pre-drilled using the original mounting points. It features a raised bubble that is said to increase the aerodynamics of the motorcycle while also offering superior protection against wind blast and road debris compared to the stock component.

Depending on the make and model of your machine, Installation can be as simple as removing the fasteners and/or mirrors that secure the windshield to the front fairing. Next pull out the original piece and swap it for the Double Bubble. Re-install the fasteners and you’re ready to ride. Zero Gravity Nylon Fasteners are also available if you misplace a screw or looking to freshen-up your ride.

In terms of optics and vision clarity the difference between a clean, scratch-free stock screen is negligible. However if the original screen has some scratches or blemishes due to normal wear and tear the difference is readily apparent. But the real benefit is the improvement in ride quality and comfort due to its ability to direct air up and over the rider’s head. This made it more comfortable to tuck-in behind especially out on the racetrack or if riding in inclement weather.

Considering its affordable price tag, the Double Bubble windscreen is a simple and inexpensive way to update the look of your ride while also elevating the level of comfort too.

The Zero Gravity Double Bubble Windscreen are available at Motorcycle-Superstore.com

Serves its purpose to mitigate drag. The first thing I felt was alot of drag on my arms at speed. When in full tuck its best to be forward (head position close to windscreen) or the wind will bend back on itself at about 6-8 inches. Dark smoke looks great and on a bright day you can still see well even with a tinted visor. When doing a head check around 80mph my visor would slam up. I invested in a Shoei RF-1100 and even without locking it I haven't had that problem since. Would recommend both for cosmetic appeal and function.
