A motorcycle-enthusiasts paradise, Daytona 200 Week has officially started its engines at the “World Center of Racing” – Daytona International Speedway.

The opening weekend of activities is highlighted by a new event to the schedule – the XDL Championship Series – on a custom course behind the Keech and Lockhart Grandstands with tickets $5 on Friday and $20 for Saturday and Sunday.

One of America’s fastest growing action sports, the series pits competitors from all over North America, Asia and Europe on 600cc sport bikes against each other as they battle for bragging rights and a chance to compete for the XDL Championship Series title.

The two-wheel action continues Saturday and Sunday with American Sportbike Racing Association and Championship Cup Series events on Daytona International Speedway’s 3.51-mile course.

The new Daytona Flat Track will see its first motorcycle action beginning Saturday as amateur dirt-track racers will battle in the Winter National Short-Track championships. On the new quarter-mile lime rock track, fans will witness the excitement of competition in youth, senior and other amateur classes as they put everything on the line to earn the coveted national No. 1 plates.

Plenty of fan-friendly activities are planned around the facility as Thunder Alley revs up with displays and live entertainment and free demo rides are available from top motorcycle manufacturers such as Boss Hoss, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Spyder, Triumph, Victory and Yamaha.
