Last week saw the debut of the Brammo Empulse, which features 100 mph top speed and 100-mile range claims. No details have been released on the new racebike and Brammo reps were mum on the subject during our exclusive viewing of the Empulse, except to say the a new racebike would debut at Laguna Seca for the e-Power race.

Brammo began racing its electric motorcycle designs last year at the Isle of Man, taking third in the inaugural TTXGP with its Enertia TTR - the design based off the company’s production Enertia model. Gobert has tested the TTR racebike at California tracks like Thunderhill, with the upcoming e-Power race his first opportunity to race the Empulse RR. He was compete against another Oregon-based entry in the form of Michael Czysz and his MotoCzysz E1pc.

In a press release announcing the news, Gobert said: "I had the opportunity to test with Brammo in 2009 and really enjoyed my time on the TTR race bike. Motorcycle racing is my passion and here's an opportunity to experience a new chapter in bike racing and participate at the ground level in a branch of the sport that is almost certainly going to have an increasing impact on motorcycle racing in the future."

Brammo will display both the Empulse RR and regular Empulse prototype at the Red Bull USGP this weekend. The company plans to deliver its new Empulse to consumers by mid-2011, with The Ashland, Oregon-based company continuing its innovative distribution network of select Best Buy stores as sales outlets.

Matt -Hate?  July 25, 2010 03:55 PM
I can't imagine someone having a hate for an object. The electric motorcycle is only animated when it has a rider; what is there to hate? "I hate you, chair! Always... being... where I want to stand" ::sarcasm:: Anyway, if they want to ride bikes that don't use gasoline, what's wrong with that? Should we shun sailboats? They don't use motors at all!!! logic? who needs that when we have so much emotion
Oliver -Patriotism  July 23, 2010 01:20 PM
Bigotry masquarading as patriotism is a dangerous thing. Just ask the Germans.

Are you kidding me? I can dismiss electric motorcycles, even from an American company, simply because I don't like them. It's called having an opinion and freedom of speech. Sorry for being "American" and exercising my "American" rights.
Oliver -Wishing BK on Brammo?  July 23, 2010 08:01 AM
Pretty harsh statement especially in these difficult economic times to wish a company bankrupt who is innovating and creating jobs. It takes stones to gamble on new technology and put one's money where there mouth is. The Anthony/Aaron Gobert comments aside, there are likely lots of good people at Brammo with families who would suffer greatly from a bankruptcy, just to satisfy one person's distaste for electric technology. I applaud Brammo and MotoCzysz for their guts and vision. Their R&D likely will spin off a bunch more useful products. Innovation keeps America moving forward. Even if the tech is not yet competitive (although it's getting there), we should give it our full support. Don't dismiss American innovation just because it's not to your taste.

Dinne, you are correct. Thanks for giving me the heads up. That's my bad. I retract my statement.

richie, I'm pretty sure the comments are for OPINIONS. You are a "special" one aren't you?
richie -1strider  July 21, 2010 03:12 PM
Hey Tim B. B-shure to shut your trap. Who cares what you think!!!!!!!!
will parker -oh that glorious exhaust note!  July 21, 2010 02:46 PM
not.
Dinne -Wrong Gobert  July 21, 2010 11:40 AM
Tim B - You are confusing Aaron with his brother Anthony.... They may be brothers but they are completely different people.
Tim B -They chose Gobert?!  July 21, 2010 09:40 AM
WTH are they thinking? Gobert is a scumbag PR nightmare with a penchant for nose candy. Does anybody remember him robbing old people just a few years ago for something like $10, most likely for his next fix? This is not the guy you want to represent a company looking to establish itself as a competitve alternative.

I hate electric powered vehicles and have always wished the worst for Brammo. Now that they chose Gobert to ride for them I'm praying for bankruptcy into extinction!
kpaul -Good to see Gobert out on the track again  July 20, 2010 10:18 PM
This is great to see great looking electric bikes racing. Nothing like racing to improve the breed. Mr. Honda new that and the rest is history. Nice looking bike.
bikerrandy -Laguna electric bike race  July 20, 2010 09:59 PM
With the uphill climb @ Laguna vs. Sears Point I watched, this is going to be interesting to see which bike finishes all the laps. Now if your bike recharges the batteries on the down hill, then your bike may make it to the end.
Tessier -Can't wait to see  July 20, 2010 06:51 PM
This should be one heck of a race someone's gonna get lapped and someone's gonna run away with the win but the big question is who's gonna do what. MotoCzysz E1pc i think if fair to say is the odds on favorite but were does everyone else fit?
