Jakub Smrz
Rider: Jakub Smrz
Team: Liberty Racing
Machine: Ducati 1198 F10
Born: April 7, 1983
Jakub Smrz got his big break in 2007 when he was chosen to replace Roberto Rolfo for the SC Caracchi Ducati team, a move that took many by surprise based on his previous track record. Prior to moving up to World Superbike, Smrz honed his racing skills racing primarily 125cc and 250cc Honda GP bikes, with his best results being a 12th-place finish in 2006, albeit racing for Aprilia.

In 2009 the Czech rider posted his best results when he scored 169 points and finished 10th overall for the Guandalini Ducati squad. He also scored his first podium in 2009 with a third-place effort at Assen, and secured his first pole position after a strong showing at Misano.

In 2010 Jakub Smrz competed in World Superbike onboard the Ducati 1098R for the privateer PATA B&G Racing team. Bringing three years of WSBK racing experience to the fledgling team, the 27-year-old took home 13th in the championship and failed to reach the podium.

For 2011 Smrz will be racing with the Liberty Racing team, which is based in the Czech Republic. Also joining the non-factory Ducati team alongside Smrz will be Sylvain Guintoli.
