Stewart - Reed Battle
Chad Reed got around James Stewart, picked up another win and kept his strong bid for another championship title on track.
Monster Energy AMA Supercross continues to be the hottest show on two wheels as the 450 class continues to rage war between Chad Reed and James Stewart. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Reed battled the San Manuel Yamaha YZ450F of Stewart through the entire 20-lap main event inside the Edward Jones Dome. Stewart took over the lead on Lap 4 and looked to be on his way to a valuable win before Reed was able to wrestle it away with five laps to go.

Reed hung on and extended his championship lead to 11 with five rounds remaining. Josh Grant finished on the podium with Red Bull Honda’s Andrew Short in fourth and Jason Lawrence putting in another excellent ride on the big Yamaha 450.

Travis Pastrana failed to make the main after finishing 16th in his heat and 18th in the LCQ.

Rookie rider Blake Wharton picked up his first career victory in the East Supercross Lites division on his Geico Powersports Honda. Wharton led from start to finish with Nico Izzi and the Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 on his tail. Izzi would surrender second place on the final lap to hard-charging Austin Stroupe. The win moved Wharton to fourth in the overall standings, only 11 points out of the top-3.

Stroupe’s Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammate, Christophe Pourcel, did a great job of salvaging his points lead after rounding the first lap in 17th. He would rebound for fifth behind Matt Goerke. Pourcel still has a healthy lead over Stroupe by a margin of 25.
