Tuesday, April 29, 2014
This may be the only 1912 Henderson on display in the world at the National Motorcycle Museum.
Regular MotoUSA contributor, Dr. Gregory Frazier, has been around the world and back on a motorcycle many times. He'll be offering a free motorcycle adventure riding seminar in Trinidad, Colorado on Tuesday May 6, 2014.
A free one-hour multi-media seminar about 100 years of long distance motorcycling will be offered by America’s “number-one extreme motorcycle adventurer,” Dr. Gregory W. Frazier.

“The longest, most difficult motorcycle journey ever attempted.” (1912)

“The First ‘Coast To Coast’ Trip By A Motorcycle And Sidecar – A True Adventure” (1913)

“The Greatest Ever ‘Round-The-World Motorbike Adventure” (2012-2013)

“Five Times Around The Globe By Motorcycle” (1980-2014)

Time: 20:00 (8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2014) until 21:00

Place: Holiday Inn, 3130 Santa Fe Trail, Trinidad, Colorado 81082

Telephone Number: 719-845-8400

Purpose: For over 100 years motorcyclists have been riding around the world on a wide variety of motorcycles ranging from Harley-Davidson to Vespa. The first person to solo around the world did it in 1912-1913 on a one speed, 7 horsepower Henderson motorcycle. The fastest person to circle the globe on a motorcycle did it in less than 17 days.
The first couple to ride across the United States did so in 1913 on a Henderson motorcycle equipped with a self-made sidecar. During their incredible ride, having left Long Beach, California on May 24, 1913, they passed through Trinidad, Colorado on June 25, 1913, marking the trail for others to follow, and eventually arrived in New York City on September 6, 1913.

The free seminar, LONG DISTANCE RIDING ADVENTURES – 100 YEARS, dispels some of the myths and tales about the first motorcycle adventure riders while sharing numerous secrets of modern day adventure travel. Seminar presenter, Dr. Gregory W. Frazier, has himself circled the world five times and is currently on a pit stop during a sixth attempt to “girdle the globe.” Author of 14 books, producer of 10 films on motorcycling and well-known Adventure Editor-at-Large and columnist for several motorcycle magazines, Frazier says of his own adventures, “I hate adventure that involves snakes or sharks.”

DOWN AND OUT IN PATAGONIA, KAMCHATKA AND TIMBUKTU, released in April, 2014, is Frazier’s recounting of a lifetime of global motorcycle travel and adventure. Published by the world’s largest motor book publisher, www.motorbooks.com, the book has been described by industry insiders as “Amazing!”
