Oddly enough, rain spoiled the Qatar circuit during pre-season testing too - much to Casey Stoner's amusement.
Rain in Qatar? It happened for the night-time season opener of the 2009 MotoGP season, spoiling the first MotoGP race of the year. Wind was blowing heavy rain into the paddock garages as the MotoGP teams waited out the weather.
Rain cut the 125 race to four laps, with the 250 race also shortened. Two minutes before the scheduled start of the premier class the unexpected deluge dropped on the track, which must be run in dry conditions.
After a half-hour delay, the Sunday night race was canceled.
MotoGP officials have rescheduled the race for Monday, April 13th at 9 p.m.
