The second day of racing activities started off at Indianapolis under much better conditions, the track dry and the riders picking up the pace a great deal.

Pedrosa topped the MotoGP time sheets once again today.
MotoGP
In the MotoGP ranks it was Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa topping the time sheets once again, just as he did yesterday in the wet, only now with a blisteringly fast time of 1:40.271, under the previous lap record of 1:40.776 set at Valentino Rossi last year. He was followed close by Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and surprise third-quick rider, San Carlo Gresini Honda’s Alex de Angelis. Rossi was only a hair back in fourth with American Colin Edwards rounding out the top five. Fellow American Nicky Hayden, who was second yesterday in the wet, was a respectable seventh today in the dry, just over half a second off Pedrosa at the top.

125cc GP
In the 125cc GP ranks it was British youngster Bradley Smith on the Bancaja Aprilia on top of the time sheets with a 1:49.251, followed by Derbi’s Pol Espargaro and Nicolas Terol on the Jack & Jones Aprilia. Smith’s Bancaja teammate Julian Simon was fourth with Keifer Racing’s Stefan Bradl rounding out the top five.

Simoncelli led the 250cc GP class despite a mid-session fall.

In the quarter-liter class is was reigning world champion Marco Simoncelli leading the time sheets despite a crash during the session, with a quick time of 1:45.049. He was followed by Spanish rider Hector Barbera and last year’s 125cc world champion Mike Di Megilo, with Ratthapark Wilariot and Alvaro Bautista rounding out the top five.
