Hacking Riding Two More Rounds of WSBK

Friday, June 05, 2009
Jamie Hacking has been confirmed as the replacement rider for the injured Makoto Tamada at the next two rounds of the World Superbike Championship.

On the final lap Cardenas moved his GSX-R600 past Hacking for the lead and immediately opened up a gap eventually taking the checkered flag over 2 seconds ahead of Hacking.
American wild-card Jamie Hacking No. 2 had an outstanding Race 1 taking Kawasakis best result for the season with a seventh-place finish behind Aprilias Max Biaggi.

Hacking impressed with his stand-in rides at Miller Motorsports Park last weekend, and the fact that he has no clashes with his AMA Daytona SportBike racing commitments made him an obvious and popular choice to continue his working relationship with the Kawasaki World Superbike Racing Team.

He will ride at Misano, on June 21, and follow that one weekend later with his third WSB outing of the year, at Donington Park on June 28. For Hacking, who has already ridden at his home race in Miller, the Donington event will be another highlight, as he was born in the UK before emigrating with his family to the USA at a young age.

The harmonious links between Kawasaki’s global and national racing teams have made it straightforward for first Sheridan Morais (at Kyalami) and now Hacking to ease into Makoto’s stand-in role, proving that the Kawasaki family has pulled together well to ensure its strong presence in World Superbike racing continues at a high level.

The team finally decided to go with Hacking again simply to give Tamada, who suffered hand injuries at the Monza round of the championship, a proper period of recuperation before the official Imola test session (scheduled for 15 - 16 July) and the subsequent race at Brno, on July 26.

I was at Miller and Hacking was riding extremely well before the red flag in the first race; probably would have gotten a podium. He was on a borrowed bike and made top 8 in the super pole. Per his own admission the bike he was riding at Miller had not been refined to the level of the ZX10 he rode last year in the AMA. This is a great opportunity for him to get away from the DMG.

I am not surprise with his result at race 1 in Miller. However, although I'm a big fan of him, I dont know if he'll have the same result at Misano. I just wanna see him do well with these two rounds coming. This is a great opportunity for him. Even if Kawasaki would pass him on, safe to say that other team might just notice and give him a full time ride. That would be good for us american fans. That would be good for Spies as well.

Great performance riding into team-mate in both races.....if that's all it takes to get a SBK ride for Kawi there's a million squids on the street to fill the slot.

Maybe Hacker can avoid crashing into his team-mates next time.

Hacking put in performance at Miller Motorsports Park. Too bad about his luck in race 2. I hope we see more of him in World Superbike.
