Friday, June 19, 2009
World Superbike
Starting from this coming weekend’s San Marino Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship at the Misano World Circuit in Italy, the races of the world’s leading production-based racing series will now also be broadcast in high definition.

With the arrival of HD in World Superbike, Infront Motor Sports wishes to offer its numerous Superbike fans worldwide this true innovation in the field of global motorcycle racing. World Superbike now becomes one of the leading championships in the world for quality and technological innovation in TV broadcasting.

The last seven rounds of the 2009 season will be available in high definition exclusively on Eurosport HD, the high definition simulcast of Eurosport.

Laurent-Eric Le Lay, Chairman, Eurosport Group said: "World Superbike is one of the most exciting motorsports series and has been on Eurosport for over 10 years. Thanks to Infront Motor Sports' commitment to continually enhance the event, we can now offer fans high definition quality. World Superbike completes Eurosport HD's amazing line-up of top native HD events featuring Cycling Tour de France, Swimming and Athletics World Championships, Football Women's UEFA EURO and Tennis US Open, to name but a few".

Paolo Flammini, Infront Motor Sports CEO, added: “The arrival of the Superbike World Championship on Eurosport HD marks the start of a new era in motorcycle racing television broadcasting. Thanks to the adoption of the new high definition format, we are delighted to be able to continue to offer to all of our fans the highest quality coverage of the Superbike world championship races.”

The HD standard will allow TV viewers to appreciate every detail of what the television cameras cover during the races. Bikes, riders and all the atmosphere of the circuit will appear more true to life and realistic, with perfect colours and exceptional depth of field. In comparison with the current digital standard format, image quality and definition is up to five times superior.

Marc -MotoGP style coverage would be an improvement!  June 22, 2009 12:12 PM
Now if only WSBK would improve their coverage to have some on-board cams and better tracing of the sound of the bike that is actually on the screen at the time! This would at least put the coverage in the neigborhood of MotoGP!

Will Speed channel be picking up the HD feed?
