Much work was done on the chassis and suspension as well as the electronics and fuel management areas of the bikes.

The #23 Jordan Suzuki and #54 National Guard Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki teams completed a successful test April 14-16, 2009 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. After a long four day bike building extravaganza at the race shop, the test started the development process on the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000s and continued development on the suspension that began at the start of the season.

Inclement weather hampered testing on the first day but much progress was made on the 2009 bikes. Both Aaron Yates and Geoff May had times significantly lower than the existing track record on the 2.25 mile road course and within 0.3 seconds of each other. Much work was done on the chassis and suspension, as well as the electronics and fuel management areas of the bikes.

Both riders raved about the new Suzuki and were very pleased with the performance improvements from the very successful 2008 model.

Aaron Yates, Jordan Suzuki No. 23:
"I'm glad to be on the new 2009 GSX-R1000 as we start development on it,” said Yates. “It feels really good so far and it puts some new excitement into this season to be getting on a new bike."

Geoff May, National Guard Jordan Suzuki No. 54
”The 2009 is better out the box than the 2008. It handles better, steers better and has more grip,” said May. “It's a really impressive package and I was surprised how good it was straight away. I can't wait to get to Barber and continue riding it."

Both teams returned home to begin final preparation for the next AMA round at Barber Motorsports Park May 1-3, where they will make the U.S. debut of the 2009 GSX-R1000.
