AMA Pro Racing Topeka Friday Results

Foremost Pegram Racings Larry Pegram won American Superbike Race 2 at Road America.
Foremost Ducati's Larry Pegram regarding the conditions of the Heartland Park race track: "I don't have any reservations about racing here at all, especially since they took that wall out in Turn 1. That was my one spot that I was really concerned about and the track owner went out last night and got that wall the rest of the way out.  Obviously, there's a lot of changes that need to be made but as proactive as this promoter and track owner is, I think when we come back here next year we are going to have a race track that is one of the best, as far as safety, that we are going to have."
It was a wild Friday at Heartland Park Topeka as Mat Mladin announced his retirement after boycotting this weekend’s racing. Oh yeah, there was qualifying going on as well.

Foremost Insurance Pegram Ducati pilot Larry Pegram will start the apparently treacherous AMA Pro American Superbike from pole position after his victory in Superpole. Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates has a shot at his team’s first Superbike class win as he will start from the second spot. Corona Honda’s Jake Holden and Graves Yamaha’s Ben Bostrom round out the top-four Superbike qualifying positions.

“I feel really good because I usually am not 100% satisfied after Superpole,” said Pegram after securing only his second career pole position in the Superbike series. “I feel like I left some out there, but it was good enough to hold everyone else at bay. My guys have worked hard and it's a rejuvenation for me, being on a bike that can win races. I had some injuries earlier in the year and that held me back, but we've put everything together and things are going great for us. I usually wish I had an extra lap to improve after Superpole but I thought we did a good job with this lap. The track is going to have more passing opportunities that we had at Mid-Ohio but I really wanted the front row start here. I think it's important. We're looking forward to both races and having a great weekend.”

Jason DiSalvo at Road America.
M4 Suzuki rider jason DiSalvo is a qualifying machine.

Team M4 Suzuki’s Jason DiSalvo earned his fifth consecutive pole in the Daytona SportBike class. He will be joined on the front row by Graves Yamaha’s Josh Herrin, fellow M4 rider Martin Cardenas and Tommy Aquino on another Graves R6.

"I'm really exited," said DiSalvo, who will be seeking his sixth podium and first victory of the season tomorrow. "The bike feels great. We've made a lot of development to the chassis this weekend. It's been an awesome deal so I'm just really pumped to get out and race tomorrow. The lap wasn't super spectacular but I just put everything together which is something I hadn't really been doing all weekend long. It went pretty much mistake-free. Maybe a little something here and there, but I had a good run onto the back straightaway which I had been struggling with and everything kind of clicked."
