AMA American Superbike New Jersey Race 2

Sunday, September 6, 2009
Yamahas Josh Hayes won American Superbike Race 1 at VIR.
Yamaha’s Josh Hayes did the double in New Jersey winning both American Superbike races.
Yamaha’s Josh Hayes did the double in New Jersey winning his second American Superbike race of the weekend over Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Mat Mladin and Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates. This weekend's race marked the end of the 2009 AMA Pro Road Racing series and the last time Mladin will ever race a motorcycle.

Like yesterday’s race, Mladin and Hayes battled it out for much of the race before succumbing to pressure from Hayes. A few laps later the other Rockstar Suzuki piloted by Tommy Hayden got by him as well. Hayden then set his targets on Hayes eventually catching and passing him but then promptly crashed when his Suzuki GSX-R1000's front tire lost traction.

As the laps wound down Yates got by Mladin but he would reclaim the position on the last lap. Fourth would go to Pegram Racing’s Larry Pegram aboard a Ducati 1098R motorcycle. Next would be the Corona Honda of Neil Hodgson, who also might not be racing in America anymore.

James Chumbris -Good season for AMA Racing  October 3, 2009 12:07 PM
It was a great year and I loved every bit of it. I saw Mat last race at Jersey Raceway in Millville NJ and is sad to see him go. Although I'm a Jordan race fan it's hard to see a great racer leave the sport.

Signing off until next season,

Great weekend and some awesome racing! Well done Mat, Josh H, Tommy H, Aaron,Danny, Josh H, Jake Z, Tommy A, Chaz and all the guys who give it all! Now for the track....worst set up for fans I have ever been to in the US or UK. Hard to find anywhere with a decent view of the track, and you need binoculars to see who's out there! Not enough bleachers, minimum Johnnys, concession stands rare and out of supplies even before racing started, no leader board, no race commentary.....need I say more. Oh yes, pre-paid ticket access had just one access booth and took longer to get in the track than just turning up and paying at one of the multiple booths. Organizers of this track have a lot to do just to get their common sense in gear! Riders and teams all into the fans - great relationship.....this track management hasn't a clue on basic fan services.
