Hector Barbera is yet another Spanish entry in the Grand Prix fold. The Valencia-born rider began his GP career in 2002 riding an Aprilia in the 125 class for three seasons. In 2003 Barbera emerged as a title contender with a third-place overall finish, and in 2004 the Spaniard improved by taking the runner-up spot in the championship to Andrea Dovizioso.

Stepping up to the 250 ranks with Honda for 2005, Barbera returned to Aprilia a year later where he labored for four seasons. Barbera’s best result came in ’09 when he finished second in the 250 championship to rival, Hiroshi Aoyama. The following year Barbera made his debut in the premier class aboard Aspar Ducati. Although he failed making it to the podium, Barbera scored two eighth-place finishes throughout the season, and took home 12th overall in the championship.

For 2011 MotoGP season Barbera has re-signed with Aspar Ducati.
