Chad Reed - AMA Motocross Glen Helen
Chad Reed took the first 450 AMA outdoor victory of his career which pushed him into the lead for the 2009 championship.
Red Bull Honda's Andrew Short shot out to the lead in Moto 1 but gave way to Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Chad Reed who would continue to the win. Reed went on to win Moto 2 as well for his first 450 class outdoor victory now that his teammate and former series leader, Mike Alessi is out of the way with a busted knee.

"It definitely took me (a long time)," said Reed. "To be truthful, I didn't think it'd be eight years for my first overall. But it wasn't for lack of trying. It feels good to get one and this is actually where I got my first (250) win. This weekend off is coming at a good time for me, I'm still not 100%. I'm just not feeling right and that's not the way to go (racing)."

Short would finish 2-2 for second overall and his CRF450R teammate, Ivan Tedesco was also on the box after a 3-3 moto tally. Michael Byrne was fourth and Cody Cooper fifth. Ricky Dietrich just missed his second consecutive top-5 overall for Monster Energy Kawasaki. He'll fly to Washington state tonight in order to compete at the WORCS round Sunday afternoon.

Chris Pourcel - AMA Motocross Lites Glen Helen
Christophe Pourcel was able to finally put it all together late in the day and wrapped up a 1-1 day with the points lead.
Frenchman Christophe Pourcel snared his first overall victory in the AMA Pro Motocross Nationals with a 1-1 sweep at High Point. The technical rider was right at home on the challenging circuit as he led wire to wire in Moto 1. Geico Powersports Honda's Trey Canard surged into the second position after starting near 10th. Ryan Dungey finished third for Rockstar Makita Suzuki.

Moto 2 started with Canard out front until two laps to go when he had a problem and was forced to DNF. Pourcel was right there to capitalize and took the lead for the lap that counts most. Dungey followed to the checkers and KTM rider, Tommy Searle, a transplant from World Motocross, finished third which put him on the final podium spot

"I liked supercross a lot and I felt like today was like that. I just got into a rhythm," said Pourcel. "I went to my doctor and she told me I have a lot of problems (internally) and it's not going to get better since I was paralyzed. It's not easy to ride like that but I just have to keep doing my best."
