MX Sports Pro Racing, Inc. announced today the issuance of penalties to AMA Pro
ATV motocross riders Joe Byrd and
Josh Creamer as a result of separate incidents during the Pleasure Valley ATV National in Armagh, Pennsylvania, on July 19, 2009.
Joe Byrd was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct directed toward another rider during the final lap of the second moto, in violation of AMA Pro Racing ATV Rulebook Appendix A, Section 2.3(i), which provides that competitors are subject to disciplinary action for engaging in misbehavior or conduct detrimental to the sport. Byrd has been fined and placed on probation for the remainder of the season.
Josh Creamer was penalized for the unsportsmanlike conduct of his crew members in the pro paddock following the conclusion of the event. Although Creamer was not directly involved in the incident giving rise to the penalty, he was penalized pursuant to AMA Pro Racing ATV Rulebook, Appendix A, Section 1.1, which provides that "AMA Pro Racing-licensed riders are held responsible for the actions of their crew members," and further, that "[a]ll parties involved in AMA Pro Racing meets are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner." Creamer has been fined and placed on probation for the remainder of the season as well.
All fine money is donated to the 88 Live to Ride Foundation benefiting the ATV mobile medic unit.
