Wimmer won a Holeshot Award despite loosing his first-place winning streak. (From Left to Right) Wimmer in third, Bryd in first, and Wienen in second.
Although Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Dustin Wimmer saw his two-race win streak snapped at round three of the AMA Pro ATV Motocross Championship, the ATV Bluegrass National at Ballance MX, the Pennsylvania native did capture the $100 ATVsource.com Fast Qualifier Award on Sunday morning.
ATVsource.com puts out $100 for the fastest qualifier in timed qualifying for the AMA Pro ATV class at every round of the ITP Tires/Moose Racing AMA ATV Motocross Championship.
Oddly, Wimmer's qualifying speed didn't hold up in the races, as both Quad Riding School Honda's Joe Byrd and Monster Energy Kawasaki's Chad Wienen topped him in the day's race results. Wienen, however, took the fast qualifier award at the previous race in Pell City, Alabama, but suffered through mechanical woes in both motos, while Wimmer won the races handily.
Wimmer did score the ATVSource.com Fastest Qualifier Award at the season-opening event at Glen Helen in California, and also won the race overall with 2-1 scores.
Wimmer will look to net his third $100 check from ATVSource.com at the next round of the series, the Birch Creek National in Danville, Virginia on April 18th and 19th. Surely Byrd, Wienen and the rest of the field will be putting in hard laps to try to stop the defending series' champion. For more information, visit
