Nickname: Shakey
Nationality: English
Team: HM Plant Honda
Machine: Honda CBR1000RR
Born: December 10, 1976 in Lambeth, London, England
Shane “Shakey” Byrne is an English motorcycle road racer who has been racing for well over a decade. He got his start within his country's national series: British Superbike Series (BSB). He went on to win his first BSB title in 2003, and that same year he notched double race wins during his sole wildcard World Superbike appearance at Brands Hatch. He recorded yet another BSB title in 2008. The British racer also has experience in the world racing stage, including MotoGP and its extinct RS3 Cube motorcycle as well as Kenny Roberts Sr.’s racing squad.

More recently, Byrne raced for the now defunct Sterilgarda Ducati World Superbike troop. Out of 28 race starts in 2009 he recorded one second-place finish at Misano and finished the series in eighth overall.

For the 2010 World Superbike season he was contracted by the Ducati Althea Racing Team and finished in 10th-place. Out of 26 races the Brit failed making it to the podium, and Shakey's lackluster performance was due in part to a hand injury which persisted throughout the season.

For 2011 Byrne will return to the British Superbike series with HM Plant Honda after Althea failed to renew his contract in World Superbike.
