Italian Michel Fabrizio had a pretty good rookie season in World Superbike, finishing 11th overall, providing a youthful balance on the 2006 D.F.X. team alongside Frankie Chili. With the popular Chili retired, Fabrizio partnered up with another veteran in Steve Martin. During his rookie year in WSB, the former MotoGP backpacker tallied perhaps the most unexpected double-podium of the season at Brno (the same crazy round which saw Yukio Kagayama's double victory).

In 2007 Fabrizio was respectable aboard the D.F.X. Honda. Impressive enough to get tapped out by the factory Xerox Ducati squad for 2008. After a solid eighth-place finish in 2008, Fabrizio returned in 2009 with the Ducati Xerox team partnering with Noriyuki Haga after Troy Bayliss' retirement.

Fabrizio garnered attention for his aggressive nature aboard the Ducati and for 15 podium victories, including two ahead of his teammate during the tight title chase of 2009.

In 2010 he secured another top-10 finish during a season which included one win at Kyalami and another five podium finishes, but ultimately his second year on the factory Ducati did not live up to the promise of his 2009 results. 

The next year Fabrizio switched to Alstare Suzuki where he posted six top-five finishes and a podium at Monza. Finishing 12th overall in the championship, the Italian had a fairly mediocre season with Suzuki before signing with BMW Motorrad Italia for 2012.

Fabrizio’s struggles continued through 2012 on the Beemer and he only made it to the podium once the entire year. His second-place finish came at Silverstone in a rain-soaked battle that saw a number of riders crash out of competition. Among a string of DNFs, Fabrizio’s typical results were between sixth and 14th and he finished the season 11th overall.

He’ll be looking for a change of fortune in 2013, as he’s set to ride an Aprilia RSV4 for the Red Devils Roma squad.
