Friday, October 21, 2011
The Ducati Monster 795 will be available only in the Asian market.
The Ducati Monster 795 runs the 796 engine in a 696 chassis.
Built specifically for the Asian market, the Ducati Monster 795 runs the 796 engine in a 696 chassis of its siblings.
Ducati chose the Rootz Club in Kuala Lumpur to unveil its latest Monster. Valentino Rossi was on hand for the October 20th unveiling festivities, The Doctor in town for the MotoGP race at Sepang. Designed specifically for the Asian market, the Ducati Monster 795 looks quite familiar – it’s a hybrid of the 696 and 796.

The Monster 795 is effectively a 696 chassis powered by the 796 engine. So no single-sided swingarm and it also gets three-spoke wheels instead of the 796’s five-spoke hoops. The tires are also the lower spec Pirelli Angel ST instead of the Diablo Rosso. The 795 will benefit from the extra seven claimed horsepower from the 803cc air-cooled L-Twin pulled from the 796 (the 696 sports its namesake 696cc displacement).

The bigger news, which isnt found on the www.monster.ducati.com announcement, is where this new Monster will be built – or at least assembled. Late last year news leaked that Ducati would open an assembly plant in Thailand to circumvent high import duties.

Ducati states its Monster 795 will be available in Thailand, China, Inda, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Phillipines, Vietnam and Singapore.
