Italian motorcycle brand Ducati will once again be competing in this summer’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb taking place June 26-27 in Colorado with its recently released and fully redesigned Ducati Multistrada 1200.

The Mulistrada is Ducati’s do-it-all street bike designed to be ridden both on and off-road. Read the full review in the 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 First Ride.

Ducati will be teaming up with Spider Grips, a Southern California-based manufacturer of handlebar grips, who helped it take the win in the 1200cc class with the then all-new Hypermotard 1100S in its inaugural attempt in 2008.

“We are excited to partner with Ducati for this year’s Pike Peak International Hill Climb,” said Spider Grips Principal Paul Livingston. “The new Multistrada 1200 caught our eye when Ducati unveiled it in Milan last November, and we have been dying to race one since. We are really looking forward to getting out there in June!”

The team will again support riders Greg Trachy and Alexander Smith who raced Hypermotards together in ’08. Trachy is an experienced supermoto racer and Smith is the son of legendary off-road rider Malcolm Smith.

The team along with its race-prepped Multis will make their public debut at Ducati Newport Beach Friday, May 21, at 5:00 pm. Both Trachy and Smith will be on hand to talk about the bikes and the upcoming race.
