2011 Ducati Diavel
Ducati has released this teaser shot of the new Diavel, which will be fully unveiled at the EICMA show in early November.
The much-rumored Ducati power cruiser that has been floating around the web for the past few months will officially be released at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in less than a month’s time says the Italian manufacturer. It has also been officially announced that the new machine will be called the Diavel, which means Devil in the local Bolognese dialect of Italian.

The original idea for the name came early in the machine’s development process, when the prototype was first rolled out in front of a group of Ducati engineers and technicians. According to the release, when checking out the rear of the bike one of the techs saw its silhouette and exclaimed in Bolognese dialect: “Ignurànt comm’ al diavel!” Meaning: “Evil, like the devil!” And thus the name was born.

From that point on the project was nicknamed Diavel, which has now been announced as its official production name as the EICMA show approaches. This closely follows the same tradition as how the Monster line was named some 20 years ago, a legacy Ducati hopes the new machine will follow.

Some additional info on the machine was also revealed in the release, which states that it will be available with ABS, traction control and the Ducati Riding Modes system, and will be powered by the Testastretta engine, weighing a claimed 456 pounds. Ducati claims the new power cruiser will have a commanding presence, be lightweight and agile for its genre, while also delivering the “next level in absolute comfort.”

Hope they can actually stock parts for this bike in North America. Every time I need a part it takes months to be supplied by Ducati North America. They apparently don't even have a warehouse in NA but rely on imports from Italy every time a part is ordered. Until they sort out their after sale service I won't be putting another dime into Ducatis pockets.

It's a muscle bike, for sure.
Shaitan -Ducati is the new Harley  October 13, 2010 08:35 AM
Ducati is perhaps the new Harley. Their current trend is adding too many models to the line and focusing on style over substance. I'll admit some of those bikes are damn capable, but they seem to be focusing on the culture more than the bikes. Hope I'm wrong and they continue to make awesome performance bikes first and foremost.
