The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice regarding a number of Moto Guzzi models: 2012-2013 Stelvio NTX 1200 motorcycles manufactured February 6, 2012 through April 10, 2013, 2012-2013 Norge 1200 motorcycles manufactured January 25, 2012 through March 21, 2013, and 2012-2013 Griso 1200 motorcycles manufactured January 26, 2012 through April 29, 2013. There are potentially 680 units affected in the recall, which notifies owners that because of a manufacturing fault the rear suspension connecting links may fracture.
The NHTSA notice goes on to state that “if the rear suspension links fail while riding, the rear suspension would suddenly collapse, increasing the risk of a crash.”
Piaggio plans to contact owners of the affected models, and Moto Guzzi dealers will replace affected connecting links for free. Owners can contact Piaggio at 1-877-696-6864, the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov
for more information. The NHTSA campaign id number is 13V323000.
