Development continues on the MV Agusta F3.
Rejuvenated Italian motorcycling brand, MV Agusta continues development work on its soon to be released 2012 F3 sportbike. This middleweight Supersport motorcycle is designed to go head-to-head against Japanese 600s, Ducati’s 848 EVO and the Triumph Daytona 675 sportbikes.
As noted in the
2011 MV Agusta F3 Supersport First Look, the F3 will be powered by an liquid-cooled three-cylinder engine that displaces 675cc. The engine is already capable of pumping out in excess of 130 horsepower and can also reliably spin up to 15,000 rpm.
It will feature high-end componentry including a ride-by-wire engine management system with multiple engine power maps as well as traction control. MV also claims that the engine will utilize a “counter-rotating crankshaft” design that’s said to increase the bike’s agility during side-to-side handling maneuvers. Other claimed benefits are reduced weight transfer and an increase in rear wheel traction.
Still no word on pricing or if the bike is even going to be available for sale in the U.S. but MV states production will begin sometime in September with bikes arriving at dealers before the end of the year.
