Suzuki Offers GZ250 for $1000 Less

Thursday, October 14, 2010
Suzuki Motorcycles announced today it is reducing the price on its entry-level standard bike, the GZ250, to $2999, lowering its current MSRP by $1000. With this move, Suzuki provides a gateway into motorcycle riding during lean economic times.

The GZ250 combines cruiser motorcycle styling cues with a 249cc single-cylinder engine. The little single has twin-valves and a single overhead cam that Suzuki claims provides “good acceleration” while still being fuel efficient. A single Mikuni 32mm carburetor feeds Suzuki’s Twin Dome Combustion Chamber with each twist of the throttle.

Suzuki realizes times are tough, so it lopped off a grand from its entry-level cruiser, the GZ250, which now lists $2999.
Cruiser credentials come from raised bars above a healthy 3.4-gallon tank, tire-hugging fenders and a two-piece seat. Chrome finish on its cylinder head covers, horn housing, tank emblems, and rear fender suspension struts are sweet touches for a bike that rings in at three-grand. It even has a list of Genuine Suzuki Accessories to tailor it even more to rider’s personal preferences.

“Whether you’re cruising or commuting, the GZ250 is a great motorcycle ready to take on the open road with smooth power delivery, superior handling and classic cruiser styling in an easy-to-operate size,” claims Suzuki’s official press release.

Have owned a GZ and currently own a TU250X. Both are great 250's,and yes I also own a 1000 cc and a 1200cc bike. All negitive comments are from the leather clad Harley drivers who cound't point out a 250 if there life depended on it. It about the ride not the bike. Find another place to vent your ego problems, no one here is interested.

I had a Suzuki 250 in high school. I rode the wheels off it in the twisty roads in the Ozark Mountains. It was extremely reliable and well made. For a 155 pound kid it accelrated well. I couldn't pass cars up hill. On the straight away when I lowered myself on the tank the little bike did 80 MPH. Don't laugh because many years later in 2005 there was a guy on a 250 Ninja going down Palomar Mountain by San Diego and he was passing people on full size sportbikes - all down hill of course. True story, no b.s. Anyway, that 250 Suzuki was a lot of fun and that's what it's all about in the end anyway.

The GZ250 is a awesome bike to get around on. Great on gas mileage and get up to speeds of 70 mph or more. Very fun bike. Its a keeper. Rock On little GZ250!!!!
Nick -A Real Man  October 16, 2010 09:42 AM
A real man needs a large, powerful bike so that everyone else knows how macho, virile, and masculine he is. Everybody knows that manliness has nothing to do with what kind of a person you are inside. It has everything to do with what everybody else thinks of you. If you even think of getting on this bike, even if it is practical, economical, and fun, then you clearly know nothing about manliness or masculinity or machismo or a bunch of other things that begin with "m." And if, God forbid, some emergency situation forces you to ride this bike, you must not, under any circumstances, crack even so much as a hint of a smile.
billy wheeler -excellent learning bike / town commuter / decent highway  October 16, 2010 04:27 AM
this is actually a very decent motorcycle. its low COG and seat height give confidence. it fuel mileage is exceptional. handling is smooth and turnarounds are tight and balanced. my wife bought her '07 GZ250 to learn on and so far, she is very happy with it. She has riden it to work several time, with one work trip being a 85 mile round trip. Sure, its a single and is buzzy, but vibrations are well damped. going up one tooth on the front sprocket lowers highway rpm and therefore the vibes as well.

this is our second 250. my first bike was a '92 250 Nighthawk. i like this bike better. my only gripe is that i'd like the front of the seat a little wider, but its still comfortable.

its great to see someone lower the price on a machine.... and a 25% drop is pretty decent.

...have never actually ridden a 250cc bike.

I had G.Z.250 that I rode for 41/2 years,45000 kms on it when I sold It.Never had any major problems.Bike still workedf like a charm when I sold it.I still miss her!

You guys are crazy. I had a gz250 and wish I never sold it. I rode 11,000 miles in 6 months on mine, including 1500 and 2500 mile trips (on the Interstate). If you dont like doing 80+ mph on the roads (and there are plenty of people who are not comfortable doing 80+ on a bike) then this bike can do anything any other cruiser can do. I rode a 13 hours, 800 mile trip on the Interstate doing 70-75mph the whole way. The bike is comfortable, easy to maintain, easy to handle. The MSF in Southern Indiana uses mostly Gz250s (with a few 125s). If I can ride this bike this way, why would you consider it useless: NOOBS.
HankB -GZ is hardly useless  October 15, 2010 03:07 PM
Useless? My wife put thousands of miles on hers and developed skills she needed to move to a bigger bike. And we sold it for nearly what we paid for it. Hardly useless.
Neil -TU Rider  October 15, 2010 01:16 PM
I have had a TU250 for 4000 miles and I like it alot. I've had other big bikes but the TU is so nice around town. I ride it to and from the train station and shopping and to cafe's or even cruising in the countryside. Nothing like a nice one cylinder motorcycle and it is very new rider friendly.
Louis -Don't forget what the other half thinks!  October 15, 2010 08:56 AM
My wife had one of these and loved it. She is still sorry we ever sold it; in fact, I may have to get her another one to put things right. She felt it was very easy to handle at low speeds and just felt confident on it. However, the reviews of the TU250 are very good and I think it has fuel injection, so that is one to look at too. (TU250 also built by Suzuki, has the same engine, but with retro looks and taller tires)
Fred -MSF Bike  October 14, 2010 05:32 PM
This bike is useless outside an msf course
Abides -Incorrect!  October 14, 2010 03:58 PM
I took my BRC on a GZ250 - the MSF loves them. I didn't like it. But I'm not a cruiser guy by any stretch, so there you go!
the DUDE -man i bet..  October 14, 2010 02:45 PM
..even the MSF won't touch this thing...
