With a new  more powerful motor the 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa was looking to regain its customary position atop the hyper-sportbike field.
The drop in motorcycle sales has caused lean times for many motorcycle manufacturers, and Suzuki is not immune.
Down motorcycle sales in a down economy take its toll on Suzuki. The U.S. branch of the Japanese auto and motorcycle maker, American Suzuki, is laying off over 15% of its staff. The jobs cuts affect the firm’s Brea, California headquarters. Reports indicate that 95 of the 570 total jobs will be cut, mostly in service, parts and sales positions.
