Especially in Southern California. It doesn’t seem to matter what day of the week or even time for that matter. If you’re on the 405 freeway its going to be jam packed tighter than a ‘70s disco. Under normal circumstances, I avoid that stretch of road like a frat kid shuns sobriety, but in some cases it just has to be tackled.

“Motorcycling’s dangerous.” I hear it all the time. Everyone from the check-out girl when I’m a helmet-donned customer at the grocery store, to the gas station cashier when I tell him I need $50 on pump 2… "And hurry it up, 'cause I’ve got motocross practice to catch at 9:00 a.m. sharp." But what the majority of non-motorcyclists don’t know is that when you wear the right gear, ride within your limits, and keep your wits about you, motorcycling can actually be safe.

The bright lights of Supercross returned to the big city confines of Southern California--kicking off the 2009 season. Every year it feels kind of like déjà vu; cool temperatures, sporadic rain, and tens of thousands of eager fans. It’s a celebration of sorts, commencing another year of two-wheeled motorsports. And although watching Supercross racing really isn’t my thing. It’s always nice to visit with friends, have some laughs and aimlessly wonder about the scene.
