Back in the Saddle Again

It’s official. I’m back in the saddle again. After breaking my forearm a few months ago, I’m back on a dirt bike and absolutely loving every minute of it.
Yesterday I returned to the scene of my biggest crash-bang-boom, Starwest MX Park, which last saw me leave in the back of an ambulance. Needless to say as I pulled into the gate I was just a little bit nervous.

But I had to go back. Sure I wanted to redeem myself, but perhaps even more, I just wanted to spin some laps around its jumpy Supercross-style course. If you’ve never ridden there, it’s one of Southern California’s preferred moto tracks especially if you're piloting a 250F.
The track itself features a tight configuration full of slow-speed corners and jumps—some tabletops, a couple doubles or triples depending on your speed, and some cool rhythm sections.
As I geared up I couldn’t help but have just a bit of déjà vu after having done this same procedure, at the same exact place, so many times before. Left knee brace, followed by right knee brace, making sure to adhere to my getting ready process in order to avoid jinxing myself.
And to my surprise after almost four months of absolutely zero dirt riding I’m not too far off my previous riding pace. Sure I can’t put nearly as many laps in as before, and I’m still a bit tentative on larger jumps, for the most part I’ve still got my same riding skills, plus my
