Kawasaki KX450F Fuel Injection Calibration Tool
Thursday, April 30, 2009
Greetings all, MotoUSA just returned from an afternoon at Milestone Motocross Park, in Riverside, California to test Kawasaki’s new Fuel-Injection Calibration Tool. Available as an accessory at your local Kawasaki motorcycle dealer, the tool plugs into the
2009 Kawasaki KX450F motocross motorcycle (winner of MotoUSA's
2009 450 Motocross Motorcycle Comparison) and allows you to adjust engine fueling and the ignition curve right from your computer.

MotoUSA test rider Scott Simon blowing up berms aboard the winner of our 2009 450 Motocross Comparison, the 2009 Kawasaki KX450F.
And after a day of blowing out berms and hurling ourselves through the air all I can say is wow! With the tool you can literally configure the engine’s powerband to suit any type of riding conditions, riding style, or skill level.
Feel like an adrenaline rush? Simply download the Soft-Terrain setting in which the engine responds to with an enormous power hit as soon as you crack the throttle at any rpm. Maybe you’re new to the sport or riding at a slower track with limited traction? Sounds like just the conditions in which to use Beginner mode and you won’t have to worry about overshooting obstacle or spinning the rear tire coming out of the corner.
Maybe you want something in between? Well guess what? The FI Calibration Tool has that setting too. Even better all of the fuel and ignition maps are completely adjustable and can be modified on your computer wherever you’re riding. For a serious motocross rider or racer it almost seems too good to be true. Look for our in-depth write-up of all of its many features next week!
