Local Journalist Perspective on AMA/DMG

Tuesday, July 21, 2009
There's no subject in American motorcycle road racing more heated than that of the new AMA/DMG motorcycle road racing series. A local journalist from the Mansfield News Journal wrote about his experience after attending last weekend’s Honda Super Cycle Weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. It’s an interesting read. Check it out here.

Well, it WAS really exciting watching Hacking fight thru Eslick... but, looking at the final standings, only a couple of 600's finished in the top 10... the rest were Aprilia's or Buell's. Looking at the BOTTOM of the rankings, its pretty clear things are drastically unbalanced.

Yes, DMG race 2 wow'd me... but it was the superhuman effort put forth by Hacking.
Lap times - are important  July 22, 2009 09:44 AM
I agree that DMG is running our national road racing series into the ground, but disagree with the author that lap times are irrelevant. One second is an eternity in road racing and it's the difference between knowing that Spies/Mladin/whomever are world class riders versus simply fast riders in some derived stock motorcycling class that is not run anywhere else in the world.

yeah, i think after DMG runs it into the ground, they'll bale and sell off in a few seasons...

The guy hits the nail right on the head, "Best racing in years" and then goes off into left field, "This is a series in trouble". I got news for him, it's an industry in trouble, thats why no pretty manufacturer tents and fluff. I'll take the close racing everytime!
