MotoUSA gets some instruction from a guy who knows a thing or two about motocross riding, 2-time World MX champion Sebastien Tortelli.
My mind is spinning about as fast as the engine in our
Kawasaki KX250F motocross motorcycle after spending the last few days learning the right way to ride a motocross bike at ChampFactory Motocross School. Having really taken to the sport of motocross, I've wanted to become a more proficient rider so I could reduce the likelihood of smashing my body due to lack of proper training.
I chose
ChampFactory with hopes it would give me the same sort of insight into motocross as the now defunct
Freddie Spencer High Performance Riding School did for my sportbike game. So how much stuff did I learn? Well let’s just say I never knew motocross was such a crazy technical sport. Squeeze the tank here; lean back there; slide your body forward; swing your hips back—I had no clue that the position of your body had so much to do with riding off-road.
In fact, after three consecutive days of riding at Perris Raceway, I can feel the ache of muscles that I didn’t even know existed. Yet I feel great having learned some new methods that will not only allow me to rider faster, but also safer and with less effort. So is the school right for you? A full in-depth analysis will be coming in the next few weeks. Until then, moto for life!
