Chad Reed - 2009 Motocross Champ

Chad Reed
Chad Reed lost his No. 1 plate in Supercross but grabbed it for the first-time ever in Motocross.
Chad Reed just sewed up his first career AMA motocross title with four races to spare at Budds Creek in Maryland. After finishing runner-up to Honda Red Bull’s Davi Millsaps in the first moto, Reed put in a dominant performance in the second race, piloting his Suzuki RM-Z450 past Honda Red Bull’s Tedesco, then proceeding to check out on the rest of the field.

At the start of the year many bet against Reed, based on the fact that he hasn’t done any outdoor racing in the last few years, instead focusing his attention on Supercross exclusively. But as the season began he was already close to the front and continued to gain speed at each round. While some of the other top riders bowed out due to injuries (Ryan Villopoto and Mike Alessi), Reed quickly morphed from early underdog to mid-season favorite.

There’s no doubt that if the aforementioned riders were still racing the outcome of the championship could have been vastly different. Yet, in the end you’ve got to hand it to Reed. Not only did he avoid any major crashes this summer, he was the most consistent finisher every weekend. Congrats to Chad Reed on his 2009 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

There's no question that if JS7 was racing then championship results may have been different. You still have to give Kudos to Reed for not killing himself and winning races while many others racers were out there smacking their brains out and getting lapped.

Larry, you're the ass! Notice I correctly used "you're" instead of "your". Learn English before you start bashing people. Anyway, you're also an idiot because you're bashing Stewart for doing the exact same thing that Reed did - skipping the outdoors! Reed did it for the two years prior to this season. Chad Reed had no real competition and still didn't sweep like he should have. Face it, Reed has only won championships when the only other contender was not racing!

James Stewart sits out the outdoor season for what reason? And it's Chad Reed's fault? You should be blasting Bubba for skipping the entire series and not even racing in select events so the fans can see him race. Is he tired? He's a young man in terrific shape and he's acting like a diva. I know that he held some ride alongs and autograph sessions earlier this summer but how much effort does that take compared to riding the nationals? I like Stewart but I'm disappointed that he chose to take the summer off. That's weak! And it's not Reed's fault that Villapoto waited to have his pre-existing knee injury fixed after he blew it out in Wk 2 instead of having it done in September so he could be ready for the indoor session and that Alessi banzaied his brains out. The guy deserves a lot of credit for racing and winning the title. Hater!

So Chad Reed decides to race the full season of the 2009 MX after sitting out for two years. The odd "coincidence" is that James Stewart, who Reed can't beat, announced he was sitting out the MX season for the first time. And on top of this Reed couldn't sweep the MX season like he should have. He is nowhere even close to being in Stewart's league, but he's much better than the rest of the field when he tries and doesn't chicken out and use lame excuses! Be a man Chad. Send this trophy and the #1 plate to James Stewart as a thank you gift for sitting this season out and giving you a chance - a chance you didn't take full advantage of because you didn't dominate like you should have.
