Can-Am Spyder RT Review

Wednesday, September 09, 2009

We’re at BRP’s design headquarters in Quebec to learn more about its new Can-Am Spyder RT.
Greetings all, I’m up here in Quebec, Canada near the headquarters of Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) to take a spin on its new 2010 Can-Am Spyder RT. For those who aren’t in the know, this machine is the newest addition in the existing Can-Am Spyder Roadster model line-up and is designed for those looking for the ultimate three-wheeled touring experience. Check out the 2010 Can-Am Spyder RT First Look article for all the tech facts. And if you’ve never experienced Can-Am’s new Spyder, make sure to read Kenny boy’s 2008 Can-Am Spyder First Ride review.

Having never ridden any kind of three-wheeled vehicle (apart from an insanely dangerous, yet awesomely fun Honda ATC 250), I’m not really sure what to expect with this machine. I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be oriented to say, the older crowd. But who knows? Maybe it will offer enough performance to keep my inner speed junkie entertained?

Over the course of the next two days the folks at BRP have an ride planned through eastern Quebec’s countryside (or France Part II, it’s hard to tell), to learn if this Canadian built machine can truly go up against other three wheeled vehicles from Harley-Davidson and Honda in the form of its aftermarket modified Goldwing trike. Sound off below and let me know your thoughts on the new Can-Am Spyder RT.

I was an owner of the Can Am Spyder. It is fun and looks great. The devil is in the details and this is so true on this machine. The RS is well suited to the 990V Twin. The RT is 200+ Lbs more and has the SAME engine less 6hp and 3lbs more torque. Looks are awesome, performance will lag.

A co-worker and his wife have one. Says the thing rails through corners but can be tiring in tight twisty stuff as the steering is ALL upperbody. Still says it is tons of fun.

Haven't ridden this machine, but I did ride the Harley Tri-Glide. Scariest vehicle around corners I've ever been on.
