It’s hard to imagine that up until yesterday, in the 20 years the World Superbike Championship has been running, Yamaha has never won a World Championship. This of course all changed when its rookie rider, Ben Spies pulled it off aboard his newly redesigned 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1.
