T-Minus 7 Days Until VMAX Orders Close

Monday, November 23, 2009
With over 122 lb-ft of torque on tap doing burnouts can be pretty difficult as Adam demonstrates.
Vanessa demonstrates how functional the mirrors are.
This year, Yamaha upped the ante in terms of what motorcyclists expect from a power cruiser with the fully revamped VMAX. During my first spin, I was shocked by its mind numbing acceleration force. No joke, launch it hard from a dead stop and you actually experience that tingly, butterfly in the stomach feeling as you motor through the first two gears. Flat out, it delivers the rawest, most extreme acceleration experience I’ve ever felt next to Six Flag’s gravity defining X2 ride.

With over 100 lbs-ft of torque at the rear tire it is one of the quickest street-legal vehicles you can buy (even compared to ultra high-end exotic sports cars). Even more impressive is the handling and stopping force which allows the rider to cope with its audacious speed. Plus, despite its 692 lbs fully fueled weight, it is a relatively easy motorcycle to master. Factor in its aircraft-inspired guise and its spectacular craftsmanship and it’s without question the quintessential power cruiser. Peruse our 2009 Yamaha Star VMAX First Ride review for more information on this amazing machine and the riding experience.

For 2010, the VMAX is returning in a new Candy Red color scheme. Although the price has increased by $1510, its $19,500 MSRP is still plenty reasonable considering both its outright performance and extraordinary build quality. So, if you looking to experience the ultimate acceleration euphoria, then I recommend you hurry your local Yamaha/Star Motorcycles dealership and put down the $1000 order deposit. For in 7 days time, the factory will cease taking orders and it’ll be one more year until you’ll be able to experience the thrill that is the new VMAX.
