1970s Whip Game
Tuesday, February 23, 2010
I was surfing the web tonight and I found a cool picture of this old school motocross racer by the name of Jo Jo Keller demonstrating some ‘70s era whip game. Although the maneuver looks like a patented
James Stewart-style scrub, according to
Racer X Online the correct term is cross up. The difference between the two moves is that a cross up keeps the front wheel straight up and down with the back wheel kicked out in anticipation of a turn. Conversely a scrub is when the rider points the front tire pointed down off the face of a jump in order to stay low in the air. Lesson learned.
