This is McElroy’s bad-ass looking freestyle MX ride.
Our friend and fellow motorcycling aficionado, Drake McElroy, emailed this picture of his bike that he competes on in the
Gravity Slashers freestyle motocross show. The bike itself is a 2006
Honda CR250R.
“That was my all-time 2-stroke workhouse. Its got a sportsman dirt track tire on the front, an FMF pipe and silencer, Easton bars, and the rest was just razor knife and black spray paint,” laughs Drake.
Since the freestyle tour he competes within doesn’t actually use any dirt on the course he thought why not make the bike look more street-style.
“The tour is crazy it’s what I use to do all the time. They are set-up contests. They don’t bring in any dirt so you ride on straight-up concrete and carpet. The metal ramp is built on scaffolding. I was figuring I don’t need to make it look like a dirt bike because there isn’t a speck of dirt… and it can only be piloted with an Alpinestars leather jacket."
This Saturday, Drake and co. will be putting on their wild show inside the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Check it.
