Exploring the great outdoors with Yamaha’s $6390 WR250R.
Salutations all, MotoUSA is in Mammoth Lakes, California for the annual Mammoth Motocross races taking place at this weekend. If you’ve never explored this part of the country during the summer months you’re in for a pleasant surprise.
Mammoth is a nature lovers dream come true offering all types of outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, skiing (yes there are still people skiing and snowboarding—in late June!). For a motorcyclist however one of the preferred sources of entertainment here is dual-sporting.
So we’ve collected four reasonably priced dual-sports from the Big Four Japanese companies. Honda has provided its $4999 CRF230L (learn more about it in the
2008 Honda CRF230L First Ride). Kawasaki is represented by its identically priced KLX250S (read about it in the
2009 Kawasaki KLX250S First Ride). Suzuki has its $4199 DR200SE. Lastly representing the upscale market is Yamaha’s $6390 WR250R.
In between this weekend’s races we’ll be tooling around on these affordable machines and getting to know how they perform in town, on the highway, and of course in the dirt. Stay tuned for the report and make sure to check back over the weekend to find out what’s happening out on the racetrack.
