MotoUSA Onsite for MotoGP Laguna Seca
Thursday, July 22, 2010
MotoUSA is on location for the 2010 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Greetings all, after spending the last day and a half in the saddle of a Yamaha’s R1 sportbike, I’ve arrived in Monterey, California for the sixth edition of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix
being held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. All said and done myself, and business associate/friend, Kevin Foley logged 528 miles in 21 hours.
Rather than take the boring, police laden interstate, we zigzagged our way across some of California’s most entertaining back roads. These roads are infrequently traveled allowing for full exploitation of every single horsepower of the R1’s. Our pace was leisurely which gave us time to take in the visual beauty that exemplifies the Golden State during the summer months.
Considering I’ve been piloting a sportbike pretty much non-stop for the last day my body is in nearly perfect shape. Sure my back muscles are a bit sore from wresting it around some of the tight switchbacks in and around Paso Robles the rest of my body isn’t tender at all—a testament to how suited the R1 is to high-performance sport touring.
We’re live at the track now so make sure to keep your browser pinned on MotorcycleUSA.com for text, video, and photo updates throughout the weekend.
