2011 Yamaha YZ250F at Glen Helen Impression
Thursday, September 9, 2010
Call it déjà vu, but the recently redesigned chassis on the Yamaha YZ250F continued to impress us at Glen Helen Raceway.
Yesterday we spun laps at Southern California’s Glen Helen Raceway aboard the 2011 Yamaha
YZ250F. This motocross bike is basically the same as this year’s model only with new graphics. Without question the best feature of this dirt bike is its chassis. Yamaha engineers really spent some time getting it dialed when they revamped it for ‘10 and we’re still impressed with just how well it works a year later.
Not only does the bike steer easily and easy to maneuver in slow speed corners, in high speed sections of the track the chassis is one of the more stable 250Fs we’ve ever piloted. The chassis is complemented by fantastic suspension KYB suspension components that are near the top of the class in terms of overall performance. This helps keep the bike from pitching fore or aft while bombing up and down Glen Helen’s steep hills. Even the OE-fitted Bridgestone tires work well too.
Look for the full report in the upcoming weeks. On a side note, check out the new 2011 Shift Faction gear worn by our test rider, Chris See. He’s wearing the ‘Get Happy
’ pant and jersey combo and I really dig the way it looks, not to mention its sensible price tag. To get your set make sure to check out Motorcycle-Superstore.com
