Alpinestars now offers riders advanced knee protection with its B2 Carbon Knee Brace.
Hey all, I just picked up a pair of Alpinestars B2 Carbon Fiber Knee Braces (available at Motorcycle-Superstore for $349.95 each). This knee brace is one of the latest pieces of off-road riding protection available from Astars. It is designed to mitigate the chance of injuring your knees in a wreck. For more technical information about the brace make sure to peruse the Alpinestars Fall 2010 Off-Road Collection report.

Having worn the braces a couple times now I’m pleased with how they function. First off, as opposed to other knee protection systems the B2’s actually give your leg some support while riding. For instance, when you land off a jump or obstacle it feels like the braces help transfer the energy throughout the entire part of your leg so your knees don’t feel like they’re taking 100% of the impact force.

I’m also really pleased with how well it fits. The adjustment straps are easy-to-use and provide a secure fit. The braces stay in place while riding yet they’d don’t dig into your skin and cause pain. The overall build quality and fit and finish appear very high too. I’ve never been one to complain that knee braces—regardless of brand—feel too bulky so I can’t really comment on whether these feel that much slimmer than other popular brands. Look for a more comprehensive review as we accumulate more time on them.
