Nick “Apex” Brocha and Ernie Vigil of Team Empire are freestyle sportbike virtuosos, plain and simple. They regularly push the limits of man and machine, whether in XDL competition
or on track in drift battles against souped-up Corvettes. It’s probably safe to say that these guys are popping wheelies in their sleep.
Brocha started riding in his early 20s and later fell in love with freestyling after his production company, Apex Films, shot a documentary called “The Revolution,” which features over 40 sportbike freestylers in North America. Vigil is a life-long motorcyclist and has done nearly everything in the freestyling world, even stunting on a Triumph Scrambler (see video below).
These two-wheeled daredevils recently agreed to a friendly competition; both were given a 2012 Triumph
Bonneville and $2,000 and were asked to reveal their creations at the Barber Vintage Festival
on October 12-14, 2012. They were given two weeks to complete their respective builds and have kept the projects under strict lock and key. Apart from keeping within the budget, Ernie and Nick can customize in any way they choose.
Stay tuned for images from the Barber Vintage Festival to see what Nick and Ernie come up with and check out the videos below to see how these two spend their free time.
