The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall notice regarding wheel assembly on a number of 2011-2012 model year Triumph Motorcycles
. According to the NHTSA notice “wheels were assembled with bearings of an unknown quality” on the Daytona 675, Street Triple, 2012 Thunderbird and Thunderbird Storm models. The notice goes on to say that “wheel bearings of poor quality could fail unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a motorcycle crash.”
According to additional information provided by the NHTSA, approximately 194 Daytona 675 and Street Triples from 2011 are affected, while estimates for the Thunderbird and Thunderbird Storm are listed at 24 and 32 units respectively.
